Also a nice day for a jog, though not when I went for one. I was running at quite possibly the worst time of the day. It was humid, muggy and sunny at 9 am. I hate running in the sun.
So I spent the weekend at the Syracuse Gem and Mineral Show (www.gmss.us) at the state fairgrounds. Yesterday I demonstrated PMC and must say, think I blew the minds of a few people. They couldn't comprehend that I started with a lump of non-descript clay and ended with pure silver jewelry! I met so many DragonFly customers, past, present and future. It felt productive and good to introduce myself as the new owner and make new contacts. I think I've got three potential teachers for wire-wrapping, chain maille and peyote stitch. I sat next to Lynda Pickard of Living Transformations (www.livingtransformations.com). She is a Hypnotist, Reiki Master, Holographic Sound Therapy Practitioner, and all around nice woman! She was using crystal singing bowls, so I got a good sacral cleansing. She had two bowls going, but I forgot what other chakral area I had cleansed. My crown perhaps. I negated the soothing benefits of sitting next to Lynda by going into the wholesale section though. There was about an hour of frantic shopping with no real rhyme or reason to what I was purchasing, other than "ooh! I like that! I'm getting it." Then I was overtaken with nausea when I started to contemplate the amount of money I was dropping, and whether or not anyone else would like the stones I was selecting. I saw Sandi there, and was pleased to hear that she and Cynthia went to the show together. I feel like I made a nice little connection there. Sandi was conflicted about buying silver, remarking "I could MAKE this!" Ahh yes, the power of PMC.
I went back today with my mom and Donna (friend, neighbor, graphic designer and artiste extraordinaire) who helped me "think outside the box" so to speak, and pick out some items I may not otherwise have considered. I saw Rika Muratone, Mindy (of both Rikreations and Market Beads), my new "stalker" Detta (Detta is just LOVELY and not remotely stalker-ish but we've run into each other just about every day now for the past week!) I made some great new contacts for bead purchasing, but have to apologize to pretty much everyone I encountered after 2pm, because I was completely and totally overwhelmed and undernourished. (However, I was served a delectable deviled egg by a very fine gentleman who is certainly a new wholesale account. Thanks "Harry and Mom"!)
It's going to take some time to sort and label the new goods I picked up, but I plan to go in to the store tomorrow to get started. Now that some of the sticker shock is subsiding, I'm excited about adding new merchandise to the store. Come see what's new! But maybe give me until Wednesday.
Today's also a good day for Wii! My dad just got one, and I've got to go see if I can set it up.
