I have been approved for signage! Hooray! I'm allowed to put my sign out for one more week...and it can only have an arrow on it...and I can't advertise sales, events, etc on it...but a sign none the less. It was rather interesting to have to "fight" to be allowed to have one at all. I honestly don't see the harm in businesses advertising with A-Frame signs. The TOWN outside the VILLAGE that shall not be named has them all over the place, and I don't find them an eyesore. Granted, if it was a picturesque, small, historic town without a highly busy, main road going through it, and with no vacant store fronts, they may detract slightly from the beauty...But...I don't think they detract from buildings that went up between 1950 and 1970. And who is it hurting if I advertise a sale via the sign, and someone who otherwise didn't plan to stop in, decides to shop at my store, spend a lot of money, thereby allowing me to pay my rent, bank loan, and utilities (whew, that would be QUITE a sale!) While I'm glad I'm "allowed" to have a sign, I'm still a little irked. It does seem that certain Villages are not making it easy to do business within their hallowed streets. They kept suggesting I get new $ign$, or do adju$tment$ on my $ign, so that more room is taken up with my logo, add just the arrow, and leave no room for messages. I'm not sure if any of these people have ever purchased or maintained a business, but there is only so much money you can allocate. And I already own the freaking sign. I'd rather spend my advertising money on other things.
Anyone out there agree? Disagree? I'm open to and soliciting feedback!
