This past Saturday was the 3 week anniversary of Gonzo's death. It is getting a little easier every day, though I still miss him as much as the day he left. It was a quiet day at the store on Saturday. Cynthia Cameron (Glass is a Gas Designs) Sandi Canellos (Peace of my Heart Designs) and Laura Slivinski (Designs by Elle) were all at the store that day selling their jewelry. Colleen Ney was giving chair massages. I had just gotten a really relaxing massage when a young couple came into the store, looking for Christmas gifts. We were making small talk, trying to convince the husband he needed a massage. They mentioned they were from Baldwinsville, and I asked what had brought them to the store. "You" they responded! I thought that was cool, and wondered how they'd heard about DragonFly Beads. "Oh, we got a gift certificate actually." The young woman handed me her card and I ran it. Lisa Heitman was her name. Still in a fog from the massage, the name didn't register. She then said "This is my husband Ben by the way". Oh. Nice to meet you-I said..then...um.. do I know you? "No" she responded. I was a little confused. Laura was standing next to me, and I could see recognition dawning on her face. Then it hit me...The couch people! This was the couple that I meant to buy a couch from, until Gonzo got sick. The same couple that sent me the money from the sale of the couch to off set the vet bills. I got up and gave them a hug and thanked them profusely, and told them I wanted to be their friend. I hope they come back. I really enjoyed talking to them even before I realized who they were. Plus they're my age. Nice. I consider Laura, Sandi, Colleen and Cynthia my friends as well, and had told them all the story of the Craigslist couch couple. They were as excited as I was to meet them. Cynthia was actually getting a massage from Colleen at the time, and in a muffled voice (her head was on the massage pillow) called out "I want to see the couch people!"
Thanks again you two. And thanks to Sandi, Laura and Cynthia for selling their goodies at the store! Everything looked so nice. I'll have to post some pictures. And Colleen Ney, thanks for the great massage!
