Well, I'm sitting in the Phoenix airport waiting for the flight back home. Sigh. Saw Air Force One on the Executive runway on our trip in. Obama is speaking at a school here in Phoenix today, then will be flying back to DC. Kinda neat to see his plane. Pretty impressive.
So I had another successful bead-shopping day yesterday. I finally got to meet JR from Beadrageous (my dad was able to meet him in June, and got some great deals on gorgeous beads). I also got a great deal on some gorgeous beads! More pearls...the rest is a surprise.
My mom and I then wandered around Old Town Scottsdale while my dad golfed. We went through a few galleries and were accosted by numerous pushy sales-people (my mom was looking at a bracelet at one shop, and the sales-woman took it out, put it on mom's wrist, told her it was half price ($250 marked down to $125...by the way, it was strung on elastic) then said, "so, did you want to get that?" She was pretty pissed when my mom said no). Had a lunch, or rather, high tea at the Sugar Shack (shak?), which is featured in many Bill Keane "Family Circus" cartoons...by the way, one of my least favorite cartoons. Had cute little tea sandwiches and super healthy milkshakes.
Did a little more wandering around, visited a rubber stamp/scrapbooking store, where I found some stamps for PMC, then went out for more food and margaritas. I could have sworn we were sitting next to Alan Arkin, and I spent about 15 minutes on my phone (which had no reception) trying to look up "Little Miss Sunshine", only to discover it wasn't him.
And now we're sitting in the airport. It was a great trip. I'm ready to go back, but not entirely (I hear there's more snow). I may be acquiring my foster doggie Harry this Sunday, so that's something to look forward to. I also can't wait to show off all my new beads! But give me about a week to get them into stock. I bought a LOT! I more than doubled my orginal budget. So I'll just plan to double that again next year!
