Good, Bad, Ugly

Good: Lots of new friends and customers. I spent a large portion of the day with Sue, who made some jewelry for her daughters and herself. She brought a great presence to the store. She was calm and patient when the store got busy, and interesting to talk to when the store was quiet. A sweet woman named Nancy invited me to swim in her pool anytime, and dropped off her address and phone number today. Nice, right? And I have a grandmother who has come in just about every day since last Tuesday with her granddaughters, and they've made bracelets. I feel terrible that I'm blanking on her name. I want to say Deb, but I don't think that's right. I know her grand-daughters, but I can't place hers. But she's a big fan of my jewelry. She bought a necklace and earrings from me today before I'd even put them out for sale (I gave her a private showing! Actually, I'd just finished the stuff and thought she'd like it. She did.) So, these are no longer available! I tell ya, when I make one of these necklaces, I can't go wrong. They always sell quickly. And the earrings are kinda fun, they have cork-screw posts that squiggle through the ear. Not for the squimish.
Also good. I took some more photos of upcoming classes, and spoke to Christy yesterday (she's doing the chain-maille) and I'm really excited to have her come to the store. I think I can safely say she is a new friend. But she lives over an hour away. Sigh. I also have a potential local teacher (and friend?) who may teach a class in September. That's Callie, who is just so genuinely nice, and nice to talk to! So I look forward to getting to know her better too. Though she did just get a new job (congratulations!) so may not have a lot of extra time. Keeping fingers crossed. But I'm sure you're anxious to see the class shots...so I'll stop the tangents and get to it.

First up is the patterned bangle. Super simple, but oh so stunning, and you can bang it out in under an hour!Next up is Christy Abend's chain-maille. You won't believe how nice this bracelet feels. It's got a nice heft to it, but it's also very slinky and sexy. I can't WAIT to make one! I may never take it off.

I also made a new sample for the "Discovering PMC".

Ok, so by now you're probably wondering about the title. You've heard the good, and I don't like to complain...but now I'm going to a little bit.
BAD and UGLY! I'm grouping them together because they belong together. I kind of vascilated on whether I should even mention it, but I'm really bothered by it. I discoverd today that I'd had merchandise stolen from the store. Stolen from me. And it really bothers me. I'm a trusting person, now I think maybe too much so. But I don't want to be paranoid and dis-trust every person who walks in the store. Unfortunately, someone that I trusted blindly stole from me. Really really bums me out. I'm not sure if I should put in security cameras. It's a big investment, but so is the merchandise, so I've got to consider it. Blah.
Ok, so I'm going to end on a positive note. Debbe Webster also came into the store today, and dropped off these amazing mosaic mirrors that she makes! They're really unique! And it won't hurt to have more mirrors around the store. Carlton (my boyfriend) and Colby (my first dog, and Gonzo's "brother") are visiting this weekend, so I'm going to put him in charge of hanging the mirrors, and doing all of the "handyman" stuff that needs to be done around the store. (Carlton, not Colby). I'm really looking forward to seeing both of them! My brother and sister-in-law will also be here, and Carlton's brother, so it's going to be a busy weekend! But I think I'm going to fully give myself a weekend, and not go into the store Sunday or Monday! Shock! Suprise!
(well, I'm not really "over it". But I'll stop here anyway.)

RE: Bad, Ugly
It is a terrible feeling when someone steals something from you. My other home is in a small town. You know where you can leave your doors unlocked and your keys in the car. Well not anymore. This past Spring my car was stolen right out of my driveway. It was a 1998 Dodge minivan (known as the mom van). Luckily they just drove it down the street and left the car on and the radio blaring. For weeks after that I had an uneasy feeling every time I used the van. It was like its was tainted or something. I started looking at the people in my neighborhood and wondered who had done such a stupid thing. I guess that I was lucky because before they caught them the next weekend they stole a neighbors truck and drove it into the lake. I think that I got the better end of the deal at least my engine was not ruined. Long story short---I did find out who had taken the car and it was someone I knew. A bunch of young kids most of whom I knew. Now my car is locked my house is locked and I am not so free with my trust. Bobbi
