It's been a good week. Sue came back yesterday with her daughter Nellie and spent a few hours making earrings, a bracelet and a necklace. Such lovely people, I love having them in the store! Sue does land-scaping right now, and I keep meaning to ask if she knows anything about orchads. Orchids? I'd really like to try to grow one, but worry I've not got the touch. Clearly I can't spell them, which may not bode well when I'm trying to google "How to revive the "orchad" you just killed". (Orchid. That's what spell check is telling me. I knew that)
I also had 7 very sweet young ladies come in and make bracelets together. All very polite and a pleasure to bead with. Then first thing this morning I met Ashley, who is a real, honest-to-goodnes metalsmith! She's setting up a bench at her home, and she lives close to the store. I'm hoping she can help me gain confidence with the torch. I'd LOVE to spend some time with her and pick her brain. She loves to do chasing and repousse, which I've heard are some of the most difficult techniques in smithing. She also does black- smithing at the Manlius Historical Society! How cool is that?? I was telling her about my new found love of sawing and filing, and she showed me the rings she'd made. So cool. So I'm feeling pretty giddy! Could be the coffee, or the fresh smell of potential...friends...will you be my friend? I'm actually not as desperate as I'm coming across. I have some great friends here, but they don't make jewelry. Be-friending like-minded artistic souls is always motivating and enhances the creative process. Ok, I'll stop before I sound like too much more of a dork.
T-minus 7 hours until I see Carlton and Colby!

I have a digital picture of a girl that looks like you and it's not Kirstin Dunst. Where can I send it?
Sounds like you're finding many sweet friends. I am in a haze of envy, but that's okay. I too have many friends, they're just all under three years old.
Hi Courtney
Send it to erin.dragonflybead@gmail.com. What is your email address? Did you get my phone message the other night?

Ummm... maybe if you show me how to make jewelry I can be a friend, and a jewelry friend... now that August is here I can come visit more often and learn the PMC skills (or watch your skills). I want to make a bracelet. Did Carlton and Colby arrive safetly?
