Anniversary

Not the celebratory kind of Anniversary today. It's the month anniversary of Gonzo's death. I can't believe it's been that long, though sometimes it seems even longer. I miss him so much more when it snows. Yesterday I did some snowshoeing with Cocoa, and could picture Gonzo being there with us, bounding through the snow like a deer, wearing his little horse-blanket jacket. He was have eaten the snow, rolled around in it, buried his nose in it, searching for a tennis ball. Even the snow today, it's Gonzo snow. The light, fluffy, swirling kind. The day we put him down, it snowed like this. It stopped briefly on our way to the vet. We even got a glimpse of sun as we dug his grave. Then it began to snow again. I sort of feel like he's closer to me on days like this. I'm sure it's his way of visiting me and comforting me today. Now if he could just arrange for this kind of snow on Christmas Eve, instead of the fore casted rain. I can't wait to see Carlton and Colby, but I think Gonzo's absence will be even more profound and painful in the presence of two of his best buddies.

I want to put in writing how much I've appreciated (and relied on ) Laura Slivinski's help over the past month. She covered the store for me the day I put Gonzo down, and has been a God-send ever sense. She has great ideas, she's a hard worker, she understands computers much better than I do! I am glad to have gotten to know her better, though I wish it had been through different circumstances. THANKS LAURA! Laura will be covering the store tomorrow. We'll be open from 11 - 4. Then DFB will be closed until Dec. 27th.

Happy Holidays to those reading this blog. Tell your family how much you love them, and give your dog an extra pat on the head from me. And if you let him lick the plate, I won't judge you.
