A bunch of good peas...

The past two days have been really nice, so I thought I'd mention them. The store has been busy with kids and adults coming in to make jewelry. I've seen a fair number of grandmothers and granddaughters on their "girls' day out", making a souvenir at my store!

Yesterday Chris and Jackie Rice of CNY Glass were at the store for a trunk show and a class. Chris, inspired by his new work in welding and metal, made an adorable pea-pod using copper and lamp worked beads, and pretty soon Jackie was in on the action too. Look at how cute they turned out! I think I see a future class collaboration between DFB and CNY Glass!

At the end of the day, we went out for dinner in Caz, and had a great time talking, laughing and sharing a meal. I consider Chris and Jackie to be some of the most talented artists I've met, as well as really good friends! I only wish they lived closer. They are great about coming to this area frequently for visits. I should be making more trips to their neck of the woods!

Today was another nice day at the store. I called Laura in for back up, and managed to get the newsletter done and mailed out! Whew! After work, I went out for dinner and drinks with my friend Casey, and the meal was topped off with complimentary cotton candy! It doesn't get better than that.

I'm hoping to actually find time this weekend to work on some newly commissioned pieces. It's been great to have the store so busy, but between getting new items in to inventory, writing the newsletter, and teaching classes, I've had very little time to create. Though, with friends and family visiting from out-0f-town, and a PMC Guild meeting on Sunday, this weekend may pass by in a flash too. I know I'm getting old by the trite expression I'm going to use next: I wish there were more hours in the day. When I was 9, heck, even when I was 18, even my early 20's (the school years)..the days, weeks, months and years seemed to tick by much more slowly. I remember sitting in classes and lectures, watching the minute hand on the clock move in agonizing slow motion. And summers as a kid lasted forever. Boo hoo. But I guess I must be having a good time.

I just found your store in Manlius! Can't wait to come up and meet you and see your store! I am a beginner at beading and have made many bracelets. (My Mom has 18 on her wrist!) My big project in making a double strand necklace for my daughter. It is so nice to see you will help as I really need it! nancy D
