Nice Glass
Glass is cool. I kind of feel like I have to go there and quote Paris Hilton by saying that it's actually "hot". Glass is hot. Oh god, I'm ashamed. Seriously though, I'm astounded by all the different things it can d
o. Glass is like the tri-athlete of the beading world. I've finally got my friend Donna's dichroic, fused glass pendants up and labeled. They look like jewels! Some even have an Opal-y look to them.
And of course Denise Sachs Mischlanie (I like using her full name. It's sort of a test to myself if I can remember how to spell it. I actually think I spelled it wrong there) of Whirled Peas and her gorgeous lampworked beads.
This week I acquired some unique pieces from two new artists. David (I forget his last name. I'll edit this post tomorrow and include it) ...McKenney of gbd (glass by dave) studio...in lowercase! Love that.) in earlier this week, and he does lamp-work focal beads. I picked out some neat pendants and these crazy big marbles that look like vortexes or far off galexies.
Today Dianne came in (Does your name have to start with D to be a glass-artist?) whose last name I also forget. I've got her card at work, I'm writing this from home, don't have their cards in front of me, and have so many new names swimming around in my head, it's no use racking my brain to come up with them. Seriously. So many names, and I feel so guilty, because repeat customers come in and say "Hi erin!" and I'm like "Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii", and I just draw out the end of the word as a feeble attempt to stall for time and miraculously come up with the right name. I was relatively lucky today, I have to say, when Laura Sliv...(ok, I can't remember the last name anymore. Slivinski maybe? Except I said the wrong last name earlier today too, and I think that was the same one I used) I did remember her first name, though it took probably 5 minutes. But when Dianne came in with her glass pendants, no sooner was the name out of her mouth that I was thinking "damn, what was it? Dana? Denise?" Ok, but back to "Di's Delights". (Diane Radclife. Just checked the card. No website (yet!). Dianne does fused glass pendants similar to Donna's, but she also does pendants with "Wasser" glass, and now I have to gush a little bit about those. I like the jewel-y dichroic stuff, but let's face it, I'm a bit of a touchy- feely, crunchy- earthy girl, so when I saw the trees,I got pretty excited. She also makes pendants that look like gemstone cabochons: jasper, turquoise, etc. And she paints glass on glass! She uses tiny bit of glass called frit to make the trees and background. Amazing.

Have I boggled your mind yet? Mine's bogged. I need to go to bed!
