Memorials

I finished two more memorial/reliquary pieces over the weekend. I was kind of in a panic over them. One had been on my to do list for a long while, but I had the most difficult time designing a good image and a good stamp. I then discovered the joys of Photoshop! No longer do I have to rely on my dismal drawing skills! The second piece had a deadline (of today). A young woman leaving for college today wanted to get it for her stepmother, who had just lost her doggie companion Leia, and whose nest was going to be emptier than ever. I was so pleased with how they turned out, but more importantly, Natalie and Ellie were delighted with them.

This is Mouser, a sweet domestic short-hair and big time purr-er. She was very loved by Natalie, who still misses Mouser, even 2 years after losing her. It's incredible how profound the loss of a loved companion animal can be.

And this is Leia, loved by Marianne. What a thoughtful gift from her step-daughter. Leia was a yellow Labrador retriever, and was Marianne's constant companion and shadow. I know she is very missed.

I also made a few pair of earrings for Blue Prints Dog Studio, who was hosting a Pet-Wash to benefit the SPCA. These were my favorites...

It's been great to be creating again. I want more of it!
